This 5 days trekking will take you through a traditional Gurung village and bring you up-close to the Annapurna massif.

Trip Highlights

This trek is one of the most popular in Annapurna, because it is relatively easy, offers great scenery and does not go really high. Poon Hill is the highest point at 3210m. The main attaction of the trek is the view at Poon Hill on the nearby mountains (Annapurna I (8091m), Dhaulagiri I (8167m), Annapurna South (7219m), Fishtail mountain (6993m) and the colorful Rhododendron forests. The Rhododendron trees can be seen blooming in spring, around March.

  • Day 1 – Arrive to Kathmandu

    Namaste and Welcome to Kathmandu, Nepal. After clearing immigration and customs, our staff will pick you up at the airport and transfer to a lovely private guesthouse outside the city. This day is yours to settle down and take a 5 minutes walk to Boudha Stupa.

    Day 2 – Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing

    Today, you will spend almost a full day with our guide to tour the ancient cities and UNESCO world heritage highlights of the Kathmandu Valley. Nepal is a country rich in religious diversity and today we visit numerous Buddhist and Hindu holy sites such as Swayambunath (the Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath and the ancient city of Patan. Returning to Kathmandu, we visit Durbar Square, showcasing centuries of artistry and craftsmanship, a wide variety of traditional architectural styles, impressive palaces and more. In the evening, you will prepare for a trekking departure.

    Day 3 – Drive to Pokhara

    A car or tourist bus will pick you up in the morning. It’s a 200km drive to the city of Pokhara. The roads snakes through the mountains passing along the rivers, it will take about 6 to 7 hours depending on the traffic to reach Pokhara. You will check into the hotel near the lakeside and in the evening, our guide will give you a breif tour and prepare for the trek next day.

    Day 4 – Trek from Nayapul to Tikhedhunga

    Trekking Time: 5 to 6 hours | Altitude: 530m up

    It’s an hour drive from the city of Pokhara to Nayapul, starting point of the trek. It’s about 5 to 6 hours of walk uphill. It’s relatively an easy walk to Tikhedhunga where we check into a local lodge for a night.

    Day 5 – Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani

    Trekking Time: 7 to 8 hours | Altitude: 1400m up

    Today will be the toughest, because you have to climb from 1485m to 2879m; over 1400m. Most climbing happens at the start on steep stairs towards the face of Annapurna mountains. After the climb, the views will be amazing. Uleri is at 2020m altitude, and this is just 550m the first 1.9km. After Uleri the terrain evens out, while you’re still slowly climbing. Towards Ghorepani you find yourself entering the Rhododendron forests. We check into a local lodge at Ghorepani.

    Day 6 – Trek to Poon Hill, and trek back to Pokhara

    Trekking Time:9 to 10 hours | Altitude: 330m up & 600m down

    Trek early morning at 5am to Poon Hill, so bring a flashlight. After 1 hour of trekking to arrive just on time to see the sunrise light up the Annapurna & Dhaulagiri mountain range. Spend couple of hours to enjoy your view at the highest point of this trek. Come back to Ghorepani for breakfast and trek down to Nayapul. Drive to Pokhara for a night stay at a Hotel.

    Day 7 – Fly back to Kathmandu

    After breakfast, catch a flight back to Kathmandu. Transfer from the aiport to the Hotel and the rest of day is yours to prepare for a departure.
